Meet Balázs Molnár

Finance Associate | Pulitzer Amsterdam

Gardener > Housekeeping Porter > Housekeeping Coordinator > Finance Associate

What motivated you to join Hospitality, and what brought you to Lore Group?

I started my journey at Lore Group as a gardener, not exactly where most people begin in hospitality! Gardening was closely related to my studies in landscape architecture, which is what initially led me to apply for the role at Pulitzer. I wasn’t necessarily planning a career in the industry, but once I joined, I immediately felt the positive atmosphere. The team spirit, the way everyone worked together, and the welcoming environment made me want to stay and explore more within the hotel.

What was your first role here, and how has your career progressed over time?

I started at Pulitzer Amsterdam as a gardener, but my interest quickly grew in the operational side of the hotel. I became curious about how everything ran behind the scenes. Eventually, I moved into a coordinator role, where I was able to take on more responsibility, manage teams, and learn more about the day-to-day operations. Currently, I work as a Regional Finance Associate, which has opened up even more opportunities for learning and professional growth. It’s been an exciting journey, and I’m grateful for the chance to explore different aspects of the business.

What are some of your proudest achievements during your time here?

One of my proudest achievements is how far I’ve come since starting in a completely different role. Each step I’ve taken has come with new challenges, and I’m proud of the growth I’ve achieved - both professionally and personally. I’m really proud of how we, as a team, worked together during the busiest and most challenging days. I’m also proud to have been part of the bedding implementation project, which was an exciting experience that made a real difference in how we work as a department.

What opportunities have you had here to develop new skills or advance your career?

During my time here, I’ve had the chance to take on more responsibility and grow into new areas. Moving into a coordinator position allowed me to develop my organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. I also had the opportunity to do cross-trainings with different departments, which helped me learn more about the hotel’s overall operations. These experiences have made me feel more confident and have opened up new areas for growth.

How has Lore Group supported your career growth?

I’ve always felt supported by the people around me, especially my managers who believed in my potential even when I doubted myself. That encouragement and trust really motivated me to take on more responsibility and apply for new opportunities.

How would you describe the culture at Lore Group?

Supportive, welcoming, and team-focused. No matter what department you’re in, there’s a strong sense of working together. It’s a place where teamwork is really valued, and you always feel like you’re part of something bigger.

What values or aspects of the Lore Group culture resonate most with you?

The value that resonates with me the most is Family. Throughout my time here, I’ve really felt a strong sense of belonging and support. I would also like to highlight the recognition of hard work, which truly stands out to me. It doesn’t matter where you started, if you’re motivated and willing to learn, there’s always a path forward.

What advice would you give to someone looking to start or advance their career in this field?

Don’t be afraid to start from the bottom and try different roles. Take every opportunity to learn, be open-minded, and stay flexible. You never know where it might take you, I definitely didn’t expect to end up where I am now!

What’s your favourite thing about working here?

My favourite thing about working here is definitely the people and the international, vibrant atmosphere. It’s exciting to be part of a team where everyone is supportive and brings something unique to the table. On top of that, the benefits, like discounts and staff events, make the experience even better.
